Video Details: Emergency Readiness: Disasters, Decisions & Disabilities Part 1 - Video clip from The Arc of Bismarck who are committed to empowering people with disabilities and ensuring all people are fully infused into our shared community. The Arc of Bismarck produced this video in an effort to encourage personal responsibility in emergency readiness planning and to showcase the importance of including all people in the systemic planning process. At a conference for people with disabilities and their support networks held in the spring of 2010, self-advocates learned about emergency readiness and shared personal stories pertaining to emergency situations. This conference was not only an educational opportunity that encouraged personal preparedness, but also an opportunity for disability awareness through media.
