The video clip "Obtaining Disablility Insurance CFS" is from our Disability Insurance Videos Category.
Video Details: Video showing how to obtain Disability Insurance for CFS. Obtaining benefits for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) can be difficult, as insurance companies are reluctant to pay benefits for a condition that can be hard to prove through objective testing. Research has shown that up to half of CFS patients are unemployed due to their illness. Many of them depend on disability insurance, including programs provided by the U.S. government's Social Security Administration (SSA), to make ends meet.
Charles McB. ("Mac") Sasser, JD, opens his tool chest to share the nuts and bolts of disability insurance. He'll cover the different types of insurance, including employer-provided disability insurance (governed by ERISA), private insurance for disability and Social Security disability insurance; and describe how to navigate the process of obtaining coverage. Mr. Sasser is a disability attorney and has held various leadership positions with the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives. He is a former member of the CFIDS Association's Board of Directors.
Ensuring that you have income to cover your medical and general living needs can be a complicated, arduous and stressful process that requires you to have all the pieces, parts and tools in place to build a successful case for obtaining disability insurance coverage.
So does your employer-provided or private disability insurance cover CFS? Do you qualify for SSA's SSDI or SSI program? Have you been denied coverage by your insurance company or the court system?
