Early Childhood Intervention Programs

3,172 Views - Category: Education Schools and Colleges

Film ReelVideo Details: Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) is a statewide program for families with children, birth to three, with disabilities and developmental delays. ECI supports families to help their children reach their potential through developmental services. Children who are involved with ECIPs are often delayed in reaching age-appropriate developmental milestones such as walking, talking, eating, manoeuvring, playing or interacting socially with others, or are born with a condition or diagnosis that makes it more difficult for them to develop at rates that are typical for a specific age group.

Services are provided by a variety of local agencies and organizations.

State and federally funded through the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, P.L. 108-446), ECI provides evaluations and assessments, at no cost to families, to determine eligibility and need for services.

Early Childhood Interventionists and Consultants build trusting relationships with families and assist them in working toward mutually-identified goals.
